Instructional Techniques, Questioning Skills and Feedback, with Graham Hooper. Book all three and save 10%.
Ask any examiner what separates a strong Part 3 or Standards Check from a weak one and the answer is rarely about how much the instructor knows about driving. It is about how well the instructor helps the pupil learn. Three skills sit right at the centre of that: the techniques you choose to teach with, the questions you ask, and the feedback you give.
Get those three right and the rest of the lesson tends to fall into place. The pupil is involved, the risk is shared sensibly, and learning carries on after you have dropped them home. Get them wrong and even a well-planned lesson can drift into a commentary from the passenger seat.
That is why I have put these three presentations together as a set, running on consecutive Tuesday evenings this autumn.
The three sessions
Tuesday 20 October: Instructional Techniques
Clear instruction is still at the heart of good teaching, especially when your pupil is learning something new or the situation is changing quickly. This session focuses on giving instructions that are clear, concise and well timed, so your pupil has time to take them in, process them and respond. We look at choosing language that communicates quickly and effectively, and at how to build from simple statements up to a full talk-through when the pupil needs it.
Tuesday 27 October: Developing Questions that Enable Learning
Questioning is a core principle of both the Part 3 and the Standards Check, and the foundation of a client-centred lesson. This session shows you how to develop questions that genuinely engage your pupil, targeting four areas: what they think, how they feel, how they behave, and the practical skills they use at the wheel. Good questions also make lesson planning and risk management simpler, because they tell you where your pupil really is. Without them, learning, safety and value for money are all put at risk.
Tuesday 3 November: Feedback, the Secret to Success
Feedback is how you know learning is taking place, and on a Part 3 or Standards Check you have to prove that it is. This session shows you how to give strong feedback consistently, using structured methods you can rely on lesson after lesson, and how to sharpen the communication skills you use with every pupil.

Why book all three
Each session stands on its own, but they are designed to work together. Your instructions decide how much help you give, your questions decide how much the pupil thinks for themselves, and your feedback decides what they take away. Seeing all three side by side shows you how they connect, and it costs less too.
All three sessions: £126 now £113.40
You save £12.60. Prices include VAT.
The first session is on Tuesday 20 October, so if you are planning to come along, now is a good time to secure your place. Each workshop can also be booked individually.
